The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival has recently announced that it has been awarded a challenge grant by the Fred L. Emerson Foundation, but we need your help!
The grant is a $450,000 challenge grant to be used for Festival’s 2014 operating expenses. That grant must be matched by additional $150,000 in new gifts to the Festival by June 1.
The Festival has launched a campaign to match the grant which will be spearheaded by Festival Development Director, Lauren Chyle (click the banner to the left to help out!).
“The timing of these grants is absolutely crucial to the Festival’s ability to remain on schedule to create a Theatre Festival of national significance which will help to underpin Auburns economic revival,” said Festival Producing Director, Ed Sayles. “We are so deeply grateful to the Emerson Foundation for their continuous and overwhelming support for the Festival. This most recent gift is truly humbling. It’s no secret that the - now more than three year - delay in the construction of the Schwartz Family Performing Arts Center (SFPAC) has had a large negative impact on our master plan for the Festival’s Development. This will help us to fill the gap created by this delay and achieve the full promise of the Festival.”
The SFPAC is slated to be built on the site of the former Kalet’s Department Store in the heart of downtown Auburn’s resurgent retail and entertainment district.
